Wellness Rituals: Fresh Spring Picks
It is officially Spring! We are legitimately starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel with the pandemic, and Move With Studio has started to reopen and it has felt so good to reunite with my community IRL. With this change in season, it is also time for me to drop my quarterly edit on my current wellness rituals. This list includes brand new products I am so excited to share with you all, as well as a few rituals that have been part of my regular routine for quite some time, yet felt timely to share for the Spring season. Self preservation is REAL and honing in on this practice has been key, especially over the past year.
Skincare
As Spring brings warmer temperatures and longer days our skin changes with this transition and we might find we aren’t needing heavy creams and extra moisture like we may have needed through winter. I’ve noticed I have started to lighten up my skincare routine a bit and am reaching for products that are lighter and absorb quickly on the skin. The Yuli Metamorphic Elixir is a long time favorite of mine and has made its way to being a current staple in my medicine cabinet. The Metamorphic Elixir is a deeply hydrating botanical essence, that is basically everything you want in a spray. Yuli uses their exclusive Eternal Rose Complex in the elixir that is rich in Vitamin C and rose mucilage that calms inflammation, combats signs of aging and protects the skin from environmental damage. For warmer months or if you have oilier skin, it can be worn alone because it is so hydrating, or it is the ideal primer to aid in the absorption of additional serums and moisturizers.
My skin tends to be on the drier side, so I am a fan of layering on a light serum or oil after the Metamorphic Elixir. My current go to is a brand new product that just hit the market: Age-Defying Glow Serum by RUVI. I received a sample of RUVI last summer while it was still in its development stage and I immediately fell in love. It not only does wonders on my skin in the form of glow, even skin-tone and hydration, but $5 of every bottle purchased goes back to saving the Peruvian rainforest where the hero ingredient, Bataua oil, is sustainably harvested. Not to mention it smells divine! **RUVI has extended a 20% discount to all MWK readers! At checkout use promo code: KELSEYW ~ code is valid through March 28, 2021!
If you really want to up the ante on the skincare, I have recently started to incorporate facial cupping into my nightly routine, and I love it! I use Province Apothecary’s Toning + Sculpting Facial Cupping Set and have noticed better tone, especially around the dark circles under my eyes. Facial cupping helps increase circulation and increase skin elasticity by gently pulling the skin away from the deeper layers of fascia, which helps to revitalize the look of the skin. I found an awesome account on instagram with helpful tutorials on how to use the cups to spot treat certain areas as well as help with lymphatic drainage. Check her out: @thefacialcuppingexpert
Supplements
I do a ton of research before adding new supplements into my regimen as well as look into brands that produce quality products. I have been hearing a lot about Glutathione, and is currently a buzz worthy supplement, so I decided to give it a try. I am a big fan of LivOn Labs and have written about their Vitamin C in the past (you can find it in the MWK Shop). All LivOn Labs products use a patented liposomal encapsulation technology to enhance the absorption of critical nutrients. Our body lacks the ability to truly absorb the majority of products out on the market, so if you are going to spend money on supplements and want them to work, absorption levels are massively important. Glutathione is the most powerful antioxidant in the body that optimizes cellular health, supports healthy liver function and promotes bright youthful skin (fights hyperpigmentation and helps protect the skin from damaging UV rays). LivOn Labs Glutathione has 450mg of Setria Glutathione and has been scientifically proven to increase the body’s glutathione reserve by 30%, making it well worth the investment.
Wellbeing
Over the last couple months I have been committed to the following two wellness rituals on a bi-monhtly basis. Between a major Candida flare-up plus a post-vaccine reaction that caused my lymph nodes to swell enough to see from the skin, the combination of acupuncture and visits to Bay Area Brain Spa have been helping me reset my nervous system and allow my body to repair.
Bay Area Brain Spa is just down the road from Move With Studio, off of Solano Ave. in Albany. They offer a full range of touchless, “bio-hacking” spa services that are good for the brain and the body. I typically do the “Brain Spa Favorite,” which consists of full body lymphatic massage, Neurofeedback and red light facial. They have a slew of other services and are offering MWK readers 20% off their first session using the promo code: MOVEWITH
Claudia Venn, my dear friend and Chinese Medicine doctor, located in Berkeley has been treating me for the past few years and was integral in my fertility journey when I went through the egg freezing process in 2019. My treatments have ebbed and flowed over the years and she has helped me with many different ailments from muscle aches and inflammation to skin hives to currently treating a Candida flare up. If you are located in the East Bay and looking for a non-Western approach to medicine, I could not recommend acupuncture with Claudia enough!
Lastly…. The Move With Kelsey Essentials Shop got a refresh this past month, and will continue to be the main hub where I share my favorite products, accessories and supplements. Check it out and let us know what you think!
